Some cancers have been determined to be a major occupational hazard for Firefighters. In 2019 it was legislated in Florida that when certain conditions are met, upon a Florida Firefighter being diagnosed with cancer they should immediately receive a $25,000 lump sum benefit.  the Midlands Florida Firefighters Cancer Benefit group policy assists counties, municipalities and other public entities with the financial burden of the new legislation.
